Epoxy FAQ

What is epoxy?

Epoxy itself is a type of polymer with a unique molecular structure that uses chemical reactions to give it extreme toughness and durability.

What is epoxy flooring?

Epoxy flooring uses this process to form an extremely hard and non-permeable membrane over a substrate – mainly concrete. In short, it’s a pretty concrete coating that lasts.

What surfaces can be resurfaced?

Epoxy can be used on any surface that has a solid substrate to bond onto.

How long will it last?

This is one of epoxy’s strengths, as a well applied epoxy floor can be expected to last over 15 years.

Where can I use epoxy?

Epoxy can be used almost anywhere. Think tiled areas, garages, patios, driveways, footpaths, kitchens, bathrooms, in both commercial or residential settings. There is an epoxy solution for most areas.

What colour options are there?

Epoxy itself comes in a huge range of colour options and can be tinted just like paint. Flakes also come in a wide array of colours and styles that can suit pretty much any style.

Is it expensive?

Compared to simply slapping some paint over concrete that begins to wear off immediately, epoxy flooring is a pricier option. That’s because epoxy flooring involves grinding the existing surface and creating a brand new, solid and durable floor as opposed to hiding a poor surface.

Will it be slippery?

Epoxy floors can be sleek and smooth in the some situations but there are many anti-slip products that can be applied during application ranging from slightly grippy to rough and very textured.
